Did you know that dryer lint is the cause for over 14,692 home fires each year?
Lint naturally accumulates in your dryer and dryer exhaust and if not cleaned out it can make its way to the heating element. It’s important that the lint screen is checked each time you change a load of laundry. Cleaning the lint screen with a nylon brush will help get off the more difficult lint buildup. Regularly take a peek behind your dryer to make sure there is no buildup or that items have not fallen behind your dryer. Have your dryer vent cleaned by a professional especially if it’s taking longer than normal to dry your clothing, towels, etc.
Not all dryer fires are caused by lint, but wouldn’t you rather not be part of the statistic?
